Today is the day golfers in Colorado’s Eagle Valley have waited for the past several months. Understand this is the day the Vail Golf Club officially opens for the summer season. Of the plethora of outdoors activities in Vail and the Eagle Valley, teeing it up on the 6,739-yard course is among the more popular.
“The prize of the course is to see the entire Gore Range,’’ said Alice Plain, Vail Golf Club’s director of golf and the 2021 Colorado PGA Golf Professional of the Year.”The views are amazing.’’
In the midst of a three-year greens project, Vail Golf Club is opening with four greens, but will have all 18 holes open for play. Each of the new greens, Plain said, are being built with Dominator Bentgrass and to USGA specs.
Vail Golf Club also is bringing back its 12-minute intermittent tee times, something Plain said, has proven to be popular with golfers the past couple of years.
“It’s amazing how the move from nine-minute times to 12-minutes has helped the flow of the course,’’ Plain said.
