Lucky Shuck in Jupiter, FL., to Host Oyster Eating Contest

Flex your mussels on National Oyster Day at South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest. Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse, at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street in Jupiter, FL., will host its first tide-to-table competition on Thursday, August 5.

Each contestant will have 90 seconds to eat as many oysters as possible. The oysters must be swallowed to be counted, and they must stay down to win. The first-place winner will receive a $200 cash prize and a gift card to any of the four venues at Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street. There also will be prizes for second and third place.

South Florida’s Shucking Best Oyster Eating Contest is limited to 12 participants. Register here on Eventbrite. The $20 fee will benefit the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum. Sign in begins at 5:30 p.m., then dive into the fun at 6:30 p.m.

Lucky Shuck will offer Blue Point oysters at 2 bucks a shuck throughout the month of August.

Founded on a longtime friendship between Charles Modica and NFL Hall of Famer Joe Namath, Charlie & Joe’s at Love Street is located along the waterfront of Jupiter Inlet Village. In addition to Lucky Shuck, its dining options include BEACON, Topside at the Beacon, and The Tacklebox Seafood & Supply Co.
