The Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach is doing its part to help flatten the curve of Covid-19. In addition to the floor decals at the entrance to remind guests to stay six feet apart, the resort has “Social Distancing Ambassadors” located throughout the property to ensure that no one is crowding. The Ambassadors are stationed at the pool, fitness center and lobby.
“We selected individuals who were already employed and continuously recognized by our guests for their service excellence and who are extra passionate about hospitality and ensuring guest safety,’’ said Frank Cavella, director of sales and marketing at the 290 all-suite resort in the heart of Fort Lauderdale Beach.
The Ambassadors are on property at least eight hours per day. Each performs various functions unique to his or her station. The pool Ambassador, for example, makes sure there are no more than 15 to 20 guests in the pool at a time, and chairs stay six feet apart.
The Ambassadors, Cavella said, complement the entire hotel staff, each of whom has been trained in Hilton CleanStay protocol procedures.
“It takes an entire team of people to ensure that the hotel is operating in a safe manner on any given day, even pre-coronavirus,’’ Cavella said. “We are training all of our team members to be ambassadors in their own way. Everyone is trained on Hilton CleanStay with Lysol Protection protocols, mask requirements, social distancing standards and more.
“Our staff is highly aware and attuned to what’s going on around them, so it was very easy to pick some of our extra attentive team members and designate them as social distancing ambassadors.’’
When the Ambassadors have to (gently) remind guests to limit occupancy inside the pool, or that the chairs are inching a little too close to another family, Cavella said, it’s done in a professional and friendly manner.
“I think that guests appreciate the extra level of service and can rest well knowing that we are making sure their experience is a safe one.’’ Cavella said.
