Chef David Schroeder opens I Need Coffee shop in Jupiter

The buzzing, caffeine scene in North Palm Beach County is now more robust.

That is, “I Need Coffee’’ has opened its doors on Indiantown Road in Jupiter. The coffee shop, under the direction of David Schroeder (chef/owner of the terrific Brick and Barrel gastropub in Lake Park) and childhood friend Brian Stutz, serves a lineup of lattes, macchiatos, cappuccinos, Chai, Matcha specialties and cold brews.

As a nod to the art of hand-crafted beverages, the shop’s pour-over coffee is Stutz’s contribution to the menu. This three-minute preparation pours hot water directly over the ground beans, which allows for a richer, bolder taste by slowly extracting the flavors with controlled temperature and water amounts (rather than forced-drip machines), resulting in a better cup of coffee.

Pup-friendly, “I Need Coffee,’’ is open seven days a week, Monday through Saturday 7:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Like Brick and Barrel, the mission of “I Need Coffee’’ is to support the local community and obtain the finest ingredients possible. “I Need Coffee’’ has partnered with local roaster, Crux Coffee for coffee selections and flavors, plus, Aioli Bakery is providing freshly-baked muffins and pastries.

“The name and logo — a coffee ring and splatters — each were Schroeder’s idea.

“That’s my mantra at home: ‘I need coffee,’’’ Schroeder said. “I have two young boys…. I’m always looking for coffee.”The coffee beans, brews and blends will change weekly, Schroeder said.

In addition, local purveyor, Natalie’s Juices from Fort Pierce, are stocked, with other juices available.
