There’s a new reason to like the Abacoa neighborhood in Jupiter, Fla. It’s called Aquazure, a terrific Mediterrean-style restaurant that debuted this past summer on Abacoa’s Main Street as the creation of veteran New York City restaurateurs Ciro and Halah Colantonio.
Bathed in blue and white (a tribute to the South Florida waters), Aquazure is one of North Palm County’s top dining experiences, featuring a varied menu that includes a raw bar (build your own tower), small plates such as Thai Braised Chicken Lettuce Wraps, Lobster Guacamole and Scallops and Prosciutto.
The New Zealand Port Chops are an outstanding entrée, as is the Bourbon Glazed Salmon and Wild Mushroom Risotto.
Colantonio, an Italian-trained chef with a big personality, serves as Aquazure’s executive chef. And he’s clearly having a ball – literally – at Aquazure. That is, the eatery’s dinner menu includes several “ball’’ dishes, from a Crispy Mac and Cheese and Classic Meatball to a BBQ Rib Ball.
As delicious as the balls are, Colantonio’s pride and joy is his White Salad. A delicious combination of Shaved Fennel, Crisp Apple, Goat Cheese, Toasted Walnut and White Balsamic Vinaigrette, the salad is a “must have’’ an Aquazure – even for those who aren’t salad afficiandos.
“It’s different,’’ Colantonio said. “It’s fresh. And I love fennel.’’
Chances are, you’ll love Aquazure.
