South Florida sweet spots for Valentine’s Day

Thanks to Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), February is the month when people’s attentions are supposed to turn to love. While that’s true, food is a close second.
Here’s a look at some of my favorite South Florida restaurants for a special Valentine’s Day experience.

Venue: Azabu Miami Beach

The Den at Azabu

A terrific Japanese restaurant in the Marriott Stanton. Azabu offer an $80 prix fixe menu in its main dining room featuring Japanese Waygu Beef Tataki, Shrimp Kadaifi, Marinated Chilean Sea Bass, Waygu Filet Mignon, and Chocolate Cake for dessert. For those wanting something a little more private, The Den at Azabu Miami Beach is perfect for an intimate dinner for two. The hidden 11-seat sushi counter will offer an a special $250 Valentine’s Day menu for couples who want to try a traditional Omakase style dining experience featuring a Cream Croquette with Uni and Caviar.

Venue: Bagatelle Miami Beach

Bagatelle Miami Beach will celebrate with a special “All You Need is Love” menu. Couples will receive Champagne followed by four courses of shareable plates such as caviar, agnolotti pasta with black truffle, whole stuffed Maine lobster and a vanilla, raspberry rosewater sorbet with meringue kisses to end on a sweet note. The dinner is $75 per person.

Venue: Bird & Bone at The Confidante

Located inside The Confidante Hotel on Miami Beach, Bird & Bone’s prix-fixe menu will feature a welcome champagne cocktail followed by a four-course menu, including Vegan Roasted Heirloom Strawberry, Crab & Uni Dumplings, 28 oz. Angus Porterhouse Steak and Tableside S’mores for dessert. A la carte offerings will also be available.
Price: $138 (prix-fixe menu per couple); $15 (glass of rosé and chocolate)

Venue: Boulud Suo

Created by acclaimed chef, Daniel Boulud, and run by executive chef Clark Bowen – Boulud Sud in the JW Marriott Marquis in Miami will offer a Valentine’s Day tasting menu featuring Cauliflower Soup, Yellowfin Tuna Crudo, Agnolotti de Taleggio, Seared Dayboat Scallops and a variety of delectable desserts such as a Milk Chocolate Chesnut Bar and Grapefruit Givre. For guests looking to wine while they dine, the restaurant will offer the option for wine pairings throughout the meal, hand selected by in-house Sommelier Daniel Chaviano..
Price: $85 per person / additional $55 per person with wine pairings

Venue: Bulla Gastrobar

During Valentine’s Day week, Bulla Gastrobar in Doral will feature a limited-edition Hibiscus Mojito! From February 11th through the 17th, $1 of each mojito sold will be donated to the American Heart Association and spreading the love to a special cause.

Venue: Crazy Uncle Mike’s

If you are looking for a little less romance and a little more of a good time, the Boca Raton brewery and restaurant Crazy Uncle Mike’s is the spot to go to this Valentine’s Day. Listen to live music by contemporary rock band Le Special, while sipping on one of the restaurant’s signature house-made beers, such as the Ignition Remix or the Coffee Oatmeal Porter, and eating bacon croquettes and pork belly tacos. The three man power trio has made its mark on the music scene by melding a variety of genres and sounds to create a synthesized sound that is all their own.

Venue: Diplomat Prime

One of the great steakhouses in all of Florida, Diplomat Prime’s newest chef, Rashaad Abdool, Diplomat Prime will offer a five-course menu that will feature a combination of sweet and savory. Couples can begin their dine with the foie gras french toast… because who doesn’t love breakfast for dinner? Also on the menu, guests can pick between wagyu filet, lobster surf and turf, half roasted free range chicken and a pink champagne sorbet to finish. As a special treat, guests will receive a complimentary champagne glass, and for those who want more, Diplomat Prime offers over 395 varieties of wine in addition to a selection of craft cocktails..

Venue: Doc B’s Restaurant + Bar

Known for its wide selection of fresh, mindfully-sourced and all house-made menu items, Doc B’s has something for everyone. On Valentine’s Day, Doc B’s will offer a complimentary glass of champagne to every couple celebrating the holiday. This gesture of love is welcomed company-wide, meaning whether you’re in South Florida, Chicago or Texas. Here’s a tip: Sip on champagne while splitting a slice of the Cinnamon Toast Cheesecake for a night you won’t forget.

Venue: Habitat at 1 Hotel South Beach

Habitat at the 1 Hotel South Beach will offer a la carte specials that are meant for sharing. Pair your meal with wines and cocktails selected by the restaurant’s lead mixologists, such as Love Hurts and Have I Told You Lately.

Venue: KINGS Dining and Entertainment Doral

Love birds or friends can split a pizza, burger or any other of Kings’ shareable dishes, followed by friendly bowling competition on the lanes. Guests receive a complimentary game after the purchase of two games starting at 9 p.m. Not so good with the pins? Show off your singing skills and battle against other couples during Karaoke night.

Venue: Le Zoo

Description: Celebrate at Stephen Starr’s Le Zoo with a romantic Menu de la Mer. Chef Julian Baker offers will include Kumomoto Oysters served with a Champagne Pink Pepper Corn Mignonette, the Scallop Tartare mixed with Lemon Buttermilk, Oscetra Caviar and Chive, the Pomme de Terre with Yokon Gold Potato, Sour Cream, Keta Salmon Roe and Burre Blanc and more, along with the regular menu to match.

Venue: Pisco y Nazca, Doral and Kendall

Spread the love over at Pisco y Nazca during Valentine’s Day week from February 11th through the 17th with a special Casanova limited-edition cocktail! In honor of the holiday, $1 of each cocktail sold will be donated to the American Heart Association.

Venue: Pink Pie Wynwood

Surprise your date with a one-of-a-kind Strawberry White Chocolate Pie from Pink Pie Wynwood, wrapped in a special presentation box for $5 each. Known for three-inch pies, Pink Pie is the perfect venue to satisfy a sweet tooth with pies that are small in size but bold in flavor to add up to a dessert that neither of you will forget.

Venue: Prime Private

South of Fifth’s newest private event space, Prime Private, is open for seating for the first time. For one night only, Prime Private will offer an a la carte menu offering the best from Prime112 for guests to choose from.

Venue: Terra Mare

Located at the Conrad Fort Lauderdale, oceanfront restaurant, will feature options such as Snapper Crudo, Spiced Duck Breast and Crispy Whole Snapper, along with its regular menu. Valentine’s Day specials will include Veal Chop Florentine, with cipollini and black truffle butter, and Pappardelle with Sunday gravy and ricotta salata.

Venue: The Rooftop at E11EVEN

The intimate dining room, with its floor-to-ceiling windows, creates the perfect Valentine’s ambiance for guests to enjoy a three-course prix fixe menu, complete with a bottle of house selected champagne or red/white wine per couple. Priced at $59 per person, the menu offers a variety of choices like Caprese Salad, Cheese Tortellini, Fresh Grilled Branzino, 12oz NY Strip, or Classic Chicken Piccata to name a few. The specially priced three-course menu will be available: Wednesday, February 13 thru Saturday, February 16.

Venue: W Miami + ADDiKT

The W Miami’s 15th floor restaurant will offer a three-course meal, and top it off with a French Kiss – this year’s signature Valentine’s cocktail! For $85 per person (or $75 for a vegan-friendly menu), dine inside ADDiKT or on the recently-opened outdoor terrace, that gives guests the views of Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline. To make the deal even sweeter, with a purchase of a bottle of champagne for $150, guests will receive access to the hotel’s 50th floor lounge space to enjoy an intimate table for two, complimentary fruits and chocolates, and curated music.

Venue: WATR + Drift at 1 Hotel South Beach

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with 360 degree ocean views and menu at WATR on the 18 floor of 1 Hotel South Beach. WATR is offering a special Valentine’s menu, including a three-course pre-fixed meal. With 10 options, the menu has an eclectic combination of Japanese and Latin flavors. Some of the organic meals include Ceviche de Pulpo and Kabayaki Salmon, followed by a choice of dessert. Continue the romantic evening at DRIFT, the chic hotel lobby bar, and share a few special Valentine’s cocktails ($17) and champagne offerings.
Price: $95 per person

Venue: Wolfgang’s Steakhouse

Wolfgang’s Steakhouse Miami overlooks the Miami River in Miami’s Brickell neighborhood and offers a variety of prime meats and seafood fare. On Valentine’s Day, those celebrating can get an a la carte menu with signature highlights, including the Seafood Platter, Sizzling Canadian Bacon, Prime NY Sirloin Steak, Chicken Paillard and Lobster Mac & Cheese. For dessert, finish the meal with a slice of Chocolate Mousse Cake and Apple Strudel.
