Go deep for brunch at MIA Kitchen & Bar in Delray Beach

One of the newer kids on the Brunch Block might be the best. That’s not surprising when you consider its creator is Chef Blake Malatesta at MIA Kitchen & Bar in Delray Beach.

Malatesta introduced “Brunch in the Burbs’’ this past February and has been rockin’ the Tuscany shopping village in West Delray ever since with such outstanding dishes as this Hot Chicken Sandwich on marble rye; fried deviled eggs; Boss Hogg Hash with pork belly and smoked pork shoulder; Duck Bolognese; and Benedict with toasted focaccia and poached eggs.

There’s also Malatesta’s take on more traditional brunch offerings as grits, eggs, pancakes and Pineapple Upside Down French Toast and the signature Sunshine Burger. It’s a deep (and a good) as any Sunday Brunch menu you are likely to find in South Florida, especially when you toss in the tableside Bloody Mary bar and mimosas.

“Nothing too crazy,’’ said Malatesta, one of Palm Beach County’s more popular chefs. “We’ve had the same (brunch) menu since February, but we’ve added some sides and added some oysters.

“People like the classic staples like eggs and bacon, too,’’ Malatesta said. “They always want that simple stuff.’’

Coming soon to Malatesta’s Brunch menu: Meatballs with spaghetti.
