Michigan’s Island Resort & Casino Now Offers Online Wagering

Golfers who visit Island Resort & Casino, located just outside of Escanaba in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula – home of the Sweetgrass and Sage Run golf courses – will now be able to add Sportsbook entertainment to their vacations. TwinSpires, the official online wagering site for Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby, has an official partnership with the resort in January.

Through TwinSpires, golfers can now add to their gaming experience by betting on their favorite sports including the PGA Tour, NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB, and MLS and at one of the 14 kiosks located in T.McC’s Sports Bar. TwinSpires Sportsbook offers different betting options, including straight bets, parlay bets, teaser bets, live bets, futures, and proposition bets.

Spring and the golf season opener are still a few months away, but now is the time when golfers start planning their vacations. Led by its Sweetgrass and Sage Run courses, the fully customizable packages offer 1-, 2-, 3- and 4-night lodging options with up to four rounds of golf. Package prices start at just $95. Choose the time of year and single or double occupancy.

Designed by Paul Albanese, Sweetgrass, features an open layout with some of the game’s more fun greens to putt (Redan, Biarritz, Island, and Double-Green), as well as some strategic holes, including the famous island green No. 15, and spectacular finishing par-five holes on each side.

Sage Run, also designed by Albanese, offers a contrasting style from its sister course. The course, meanders through Upper Peninsula hardwoods, open vistas, and a dramatic ridge that offers a scenic variety of shots. The course plays host annually to some of the top collegiate players with The Island Resort Collegiate at Sage Run.

The growing popularity of golf and gaming at Island Resort has driven the demand for a $30 million expansion that will be completed this Winter. More than 100 new hotel rooms will be added, which will be connected to the south end of the current 11-story Palm Tower. A high-end dining venue and convention space are also planned for the top floor, as well as a new swimming pool with water park attractions.

Island Resort & Casino is one of the Midwest’s largest golf, casino and entertainment resort destinations spanning over 408,000 square feet. The resort features more than 300 guest rooms and a 42- site RV Park.

The resort amenities also include the luxurious Drift Spa offering a variety of high-end spa services with access to the resort’s saltwater pool, steam rooms and sauna.  Multiple dining options include the signature 5 Bridges Steak and Seafood House, 5 Bridges Pub, Firekeepers Restaurant, T. McC’s Sports Bar, Coral Reef Grille, Signature Subs & Pizza and The Coffee & Custard Shop featuring items from The Bakery.
