Breckenridge (Colo.) Grand Vacations is investing in what it calls, “ground-breaking technology,’’ via PURO UV Disinfection Lighting to create higher standards of cleanliness in a post-coronavirus world.
“Not to say we didn’t have high standards before, but I think people throw around the phrase ‘new normal’ without any meat on the bone,’’ Breckenridge Grand Vacations CEO Mike Dudick said. “What I want to do for our guests is something different than they’ve ever experienced.’’
Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV) has more than 800 units under management. In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, Dudick and fellow BVG owner Mike Millisor immediately sought out the best new solution that would largely eliminate the possibility of human error from a consistent clean to ensure the safety of owners, guests and employees at their resorts. They found their answer with Lakewood, Colorado-based PURO UV Disinfection Lighting, powered by Violet Defense technology.
“The use of full-spectrum UV disinfecting lights in the hotel and resort market is extremely forward-thinking, and Breckenridge Grand Vacations is pioneering the way for the entire industry, not just in Colorado, but the country,” said Brian Stern, Co-Founder of PURO Lighting. “It’s a great way for Breckenridge Grand Vacations to protect against spreading viruses and prepare them to be at their cleanest well into the future.”
Until now, Stern said, PURO’s UV-lighting technology would frequently be found in industrial locations, manufacturing plants, hospitals and other healthcare facilities. Utilizing exclusive patents and technology, Stern said his company’s UV disinfection solution includes the first-known high intensity full spectrum UV fixture that can be installed in a ceiling, suspended, or wall mounted.
These fixtures, according to Stern, kill up to 99.9% of viruses and bacteria and can significantly reduce the growth of fungi such as yeasts and molds when used at the recommended spacing and run times.
“BGV has established a comprehensive list of measures to ensure a safer stay for our owners and guests and provide an added measure of confidence for our employees. We plan to establish usage protocols and work with third-party labs to help design best practices in using the UV lights in our resorts,” Dudick said. “Safety and cleanliness are at the forefront of any conversation and will be long into the future. Everything in the room is blasted by the UV lights.
“Our goal is to ease the minds of our guests and show them we have set a new standard in cleanliness. We are working to remove any fear from the vacation experience with the goal of creating lifetime memories and putting the smiles back on peoples’ faces.’’
This UV lights, Dudick said, are currently installed at each BGV Resort (including the Grand Colorado on Peak 8, the Grand Lodge on Peak 7, Grand Timber Lodge, and Gold Point Resort), giving staff the ability to disinfect any room of any size.
The UV lights can be used on demand or scheduled to run overnight and will be used at all BGV Properties between guest stays to ensure a safe and clean visit, as well as run frequently in all common areas, including lobbies, spas and gyms.
