Art and design fuse with movement, music and libations over Art Basel at this year’s Loews Miami Beach Hotel Art Collective. The South Beach resort – home to an expansive collection of multi-medium works of art – is bringing together artists and experiences for a series of unique activations that capture the spirit of Art Basel and Miami Beach. Art Basel will be Dec. 5-8 throughout South Beach, Miami Beach and Miami.
As part of this year’s Art Basel collective, Loews Miami Beach Hotel will host urban contemporary artist Mikael B as official Artist in Residence. Mikael B manages to transform impressions and experiences into an abstract design language that exudes energy and joy as he creates conceptual works of art with spray and acrylic. His massive murals can be seen in Miami’s Wynwood Arts District, as well as St. Petersburg, Los Angeles and Copenhagen.
From December 2-8, Mikael B will showcase fine art works throughout the property, in addition to creating a custom mural for Loews Miami Beach Hotel. At the hands of Mikael B, the mural will come to life throughout the week, with an unveiling to the public on Dec. 6.
As official host hotel for SCOPE Miami Beach, visitors will get a preview of what to expect at the art show with a bespoke installation by SCOPE featured artist Thomas Webb. Webb’s “Algorithim” infinity mirror will provide guests with an interactive art moment in the hotel’s main lobby. A larger than life version of Webb’s digital artwork can be seen at the acclaimed SCOPE contemporary art pavilion, located on the sands of Ocean Drive and 8th street.
Additional Art Basel events include the hotel’s first ever Team Member Art Showcase, featuring original works by Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s staff; an evening of live art with Derek Gores and Jonlouis Gonzalez at Collage & Space; Exhale South Beach Spa and STAY FIT 305’s Art Basel Yoga Flow event; and a special reception to unveil Mikael B’s completed mural.
