Double dip those chips on Mexican Independence Day and National Guacamole Day

National Guacamole Day and Mexican Independence Day each are Sept. 16 – two more reasons to party in South Florida. Here are some of my favorite spots:

EL Vez (Fort Lauderdale Beach)

Stephen Starr’s eclectic Mexican restaurant in the W Hotel will offer half-off deals on its three signature Guacamoles. Usually priced at $15 and $16 respectively, guests can get a Classic Guacamole or Verde Guacamole for just $7.50, as well as the Tito Santana Guacamole for $8. El Vez also will offer a limited edition $15 special Seafood Guacamole with shrimp, scallops, crab, heirloom tomatoes, cucumber and epazote oil.

COYO Taco: (all locations)

On Sept. 16, guests can purchase an entree from any COYO Taco location and receive a complementary side of chips and guacamole to match.

Kaido (Miami)

The Asian and Japanese- inspired cocktail lounge opens at 5:30 pm and offers Kosho Guacamole with “Salsa Verde”, Crisp Root Chips, and Toasted Sesame Oil for $15. Enjoy a true classic with new flavors and cocktails such as Nikkei Sour and Blue Okinawan.

Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar (Fort Lauderdale)

For National Guacamole Day, guests can get their guacamole made tableside for $14. If you looking for a little crunch with your guacamole, add peppers, carrots, radish, and celery for dipping for $3.

Bakan Wynwood (Miami)

Bakan on Sept. 15 will be serving authentic Mexican dishes that you can eat to the tunes of a live Mariachi band from 2:30pm – 4:30pm, and from 8pm – 11pm.
