National Rum Day is Aug. 16, meaning here’s another chance to party before summer runs out.
In West Palm Beach, City Cellar in Rosemary Square (former City Place) will serving up a duet, including the Tropical Martini with Flor de Cana rum, Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur, pineapple juice, and a splash of grenadine.
The Dragonberry Strawberry Mojito, crafted by Shawn Powell, the restaurant’s beverage manager and mixologist, features strawberry purée, fresh mint, Bacardi Dragonberry rum, and a twist of lime poured over ice and crowned with club soda.
Here are the recipes:
2 oz. Flor de Cana Rum
1 oz. Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur
1/2 oz. pineapple juice
1/2 oz. cranberry juice
1/2 oz. orange Juice
1 orange wedge (garnish)
1 maraschino cherry (garnish)
Directions: In a shaker glass, add rum, maraschino liqueur, and fruit juices. Shake briskly then pour mixture into a martini glass. Garnish with a fresh orange wedge and maraschino cherry.
Dragonberry Strawberry Mojito
2.5 oz. Bacardi Dragonberry Rum
1 oz. Real Strawberry Purée
8 fresh mint leaves
3 lime wedges
½ oz. simple syrup
1 strawberry (garnish)
Directions: In a shaker glass, muddle mint leaves and lime wedges. Add rum, strawberry purée, and simple syrup. Shake briskly then pour mixture over ice into a pint glass. Top with soda water. Garnish with a fresh strawberry.
