Renovation of the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel includes Steelpan, a Caribbean-American restaurant concept inspired by the island flavors of South Florida.
“During the renovation process, we put a lot of thought into how to best showcase the beach views we have available to us,’’ hotel General Manager Eduardo Fernandez told me. “The inspiration for the restaurant is also infused into the food and drink menus, with dishes including coconut shell ceviche, jerk chicken and dumplings and whole baked snapper, which pair well with our signature sips and wine list.’’
Steelpan, which is scheduled to open within the next few weeks, is located front and center on the ground floor of the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach hotel, which has had each of its 240 guest rooms and suites re-designed and upgraded with new bedding, an ocean-themed color palate and amenities.
“When guests enter their room, we want them to immediately feel like they can relax and unwind,’’ Fernandez said. “Our location serves as the inspiration behind the renovation as we’re just across the street from the beach and Intracoastal waterway. With the recent developments on property, we’re redefining the overall concept to even more so align with our coastal location, bringing the Fort Lauderdale beach experience inside with a sense of warmth and relaxation throughout the property.’’
