Paula Crown’s SOLO Cup for Art Basel highlights Rise Above Plastic campaign

Paula Crown’s 10-foot SOLO Cup has been at Art Basel in Miami Beach. The piece is a call for environmental activism and the end of single-use plastic. As part of the Rise Above Plastic campaign, for every Instagram photo taken during Art Basel week, PAHC/studio lab has joined forces with the Surfrider Foundation to clean one pound of plastic waste off Miami beaches.

Not too far from the SOLO Cup, ICA Miami kicked Art Basel with the newest exhibitions by Judy Chicago, Larry Bell, William Copley, Manuel Solano and Henry Taylor.

In addition to ICA’s public opening on Dec. 4, Jeffrey Deitch & Larry Gagosian hosted a cocktail reception for their exhibition, Pop Minimalism Minimalist Pop. This exhibition explores pop art and minimalism, two of the biggest art movements of the century, and will run from Dec. 5-9 in the Moore Building in Miami.
