Sneak Peek at some of the new hotels/resorts in 2019

Now that November has arrived, it’s time to take a look at 2019. From a 1940’s transformed boutique hotel in Miami to one of Waikiki’s only remaining walk-up motels in Hawaii, 2019 will showcase numerous new buzz-worthy hotels.

Here’s a look at some to watch:

Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences
Singer Island, Palm Beach County, Florida
Opening Date: Late 2019
About: Spanning more than seven acres in a pristine stretch of the Atlantic shoreline, Amrit Ocean Resort & Residences is a new paradigm of mindful living. Developed in partnership with world-renowned ESPA and the Himalayan Institute, Amrit will merge Eastern traditions and inner science with Western luxury, enhanced through modern technologies and personalized programming. Amrit has been developed to offer an 24/7 custom experiences centered around expert education, instruction, and position lifestyle changes based on The Five Pillars: nutrition, fitness, mindfulness, sleep, and relaxation.

Ewa Hotel
Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii
Opening Date: Fall 2018
Aqua-Aston Hospitality’s Ewa Hotel in the heart of Waikiki is undergoing a major redesign, which upon completion will reflect a 1970s-style aesthetic with skateboards as the focal point. The refreshed property will include a beer garden, food truck rallies/airstreams, upscale dorms and communal spaces and an outdoor lanai with sweeping views of Waikiki.

The Celino South Beach Hotel

Ocean Drive, Miami
Opening Date: Early 2019
Originally built in 1937, the 132-guestroom hotel will be comprised of a new five-story atrium property and three original Art Deco buildings, including the iconic Park Central Hotel, which was once the tallest Art Deco building on the strip and vacation hotspot for the likes of Clark Gable and Humphry Bogart. As the largest hospitality development in the history of Ocean Drive, Celino South Beach will feature Miami’s modern aesthetics with Floridian accents, Cuban color palette and an intimate interior that pays homage to Ocean Drive in the 1940s. The hotel also will have a rooftop glass-bottom pool, library, two dining outlets, an indoor/outdoor central bar, and in-room beauty and wellness services from hair and nails to yoga and massage.

Baker’s Cay Resort

Key Largo, Florida
Opening: Early 2019
Baker’s Cay is carved into Key Largo’s most lush and secluded region. The 200-room resort will have two swimming pools separated by a cascading waterfall grotto; salon; four dining outlets, including a beachside taco-and-tequila eatery with one of the largest collection of house-made hot sauces; food truck; library filled with vintage paper-backs; winding nature trail; boating dock; and pet amenities including doggie beach tikis. Located on the Gulf side of the Overseas Highway, the resort is tucked away on 13 acres of tropical groves situated on a former pineapple plantation previously owned by namesake Captain Ben Baker.

Origin Hotel

Lexington, Kentucky
Opening Date: January 2019
Lexington will see a 120-room hotel at the new The Summit at Fritz Farm, the premier retail and lifestyle center in the heart of the city. Estimated to open in January 2019, Origin Hotel will cater to travelers with a passion to exploring local culture, featuring loft-style suites inspired by the Bluegrass Region, The Still restaurant, locally-sourced coffee, bike sharing and flexible event space. Sanctuary Cap Cana
Punta Cana
Opening Date: January 2019
After closing to undergo a $35 million modernization, the adults-only Sanctuary Cap Cana resort will celebrate its grand re-opening January 2019. Currently in its soft launch, the property features two new design-centric towers that in the new year will house 140 additional suites. Situated on the coveted eastern tip of the island with the aesthetic of a colonial Spanish town perched cliffside, Sanctuary Cap Cana spans more than 20 tropical acres, including 2,100 feet of oceanfront. The renovation, overseen by Carrillo Projects Co., will touch every corner of the resort. While carefully restoring the property’s fine architectural features, the transformation will also introduce completely re-imagined guest rooms and enhanced public spaces, including the lobby, dining outlets and a spa.

White Sands Hotel
Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii
Opening Date: February 2019
The White Sands is undergoing a full restoration to its original 1960s glory. As one of Waikiki’s only remaining walk-up motels, White Sands will be a funky return to the Hawaii everyone remembers. Authentically inauthentic, a full revamp by Honolulu-based interior design house Vanguard Theory will take an irreverent twist on Hawaii’s midcentury nostalgia. Focal points include a lush garden and pool courtyard oasis complete with a bar-adjacent hot tub. Culinary and cocktail concepts by Honolulu’s well-loved Fête restaurant group will re-think continental cuisine with elevated 1960’s throwback items.

Waikiki, Honolulu, Hawaii
Opening Date: July 2019
Each of the hotel’s nine floors will showcase one, three-bedroom suite complete with a dedicated butler, Italian marble bathrooms, dry sauna, jacuzzi on a lanai, full kitchen and complimentary luxury rental car. Public spaces include a rooftop infinity pool, restaurant, and spa.

Marina Villas at Oil Nut Bay
Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands
Opening Date: Mid 2019
Nestled above Oil Nut Bay’s Marina Village, a waterside promenade with a restaurant, coffee shop, boutique and library open to travelers and locals-alike, the Marina Villas, will be complete mid-2019 and available for rent soon after. Perched into the hillside overlooking Marina Village, Necker Island and Eustatia Sound, the four new two-bedroom villas feature a private glass-walled pool, floor-to-ceiling windows and designed with the islands natural resources.

AC Hotel Grand Rapids Downtown
Grand Rapids, Michigan
Opening Date: Spring 2019
The 130-room AC Hotel Grand Rapids will transform a historic 127-year old warehouse in the heart of downtown into a haven for entrepreneurial-minded travelers, featuring minimalist design details and the building’s original brick façade. Steps from the Van Andel Arena and DeVos Convention Center, the converted hotel will feature nods to the destination, such as public spaces exclusively outfitted by a renowned West Michigan-based furniture designer and only serving hometown brews on tap (as Grand Rapids is affectionately known as “Beer City USA”) at the casual, tapas-style AC Lounge.

Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda
Miches, Dominican Republic
Opening Date: December 2019
Club Med, the pioneer of the all-inclusive concept, is opening a new Exclusive Collection, 5-Trident (5-star) resort in Miches, a secluded paradise located on the northeast coast of the Dominican Republic, in December 2019. Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda will be the first operating resort in the soon-to-be-developed region.
