South Florida never misses an opportunity to party. Halloween and Day of the Dead, of courses, each are perfect opportunities. Here’s a look at some of my favorites:
Event: Alice in 1Derland Yelloween
Location: 1 Hotel Rooftop
Date and Time: October 31, 9 p.m. – late
Description: On Halloween, 1 Hotel South Beach is allowing guests to fulfill their Alice in Wonderland fantasies with Veuve Clicquot sponsoring this mad tea party. On Halloween night, the Rooftop at 1 Hotel will be transformed into a mystical Alice in 1Derland environment through décor, entertainment and sounds by Yissel. Highlights will include enlarged mushrooms, cards and chess games, a photobooth with props to capture Halloween costumes, cages for dancers and guests to get in, birdcage chairs and all of the decorations that made Alice in Wonderland an iconic film. Event: Beetle Juice at Movie Under the Stars at Atton Brickell Miami
Location: Atton Brickell Miami
Date and Time: October 31, 8:30p.m.
Description: For those who are looking to spend their Halloween night in a comfortable low-key environment, Atton Brickell will be dedicating this Wednesday’s Movie Under the Stars event to Beetle Juice, a classic way for movie lovers to celebrate this spooky night. Just don’t say his name three times.
Event: Halloweek at KINGS Doral
Location: KINGS Dining & Entertainment Doral
Date and Time: Through Nov. 1.
Description: Celebrate Halloween all week long at KINGS Dining & Entertainment Doral, an expansive dining, cocktail and entertainment venue that visitors can’t get enough of. While parents can enjoy KINGS’ multiple happy hours, the kids can stay busy painting bowling pins and indulging in Halloween treats for free.
Event: HE11EVEN Apocalypse at E11EVEN
Location: E11EVEN Miami
Date and Time: Through Oct. 31.
Description: The week includes performances by some of the world’s top DJ’s. On Halloween night, guest can expect a real treat with Laidback Luke behind the DJ booth. Other performers throughout the week include Mister Gray, Yissel and Wasabi. Tickets start at $20 and will be expected to rise closer to the dates.
Event: Halloween “Yappy” Hour // Canine and Companions Costume Contest
Location: Portico at The Diplomat Beach Resort

Details: Located at The Diplomat Beach Resort, Portico is a waterfront beer and wine garden serving sharable, light-Italian favorites with an exclusively on-tap beer and wine program. Also on Oct. 31, Portico will host a “Yappy Hour” for all dogs, pet owners and friends to enjoy. Slip a costume on your precious pup and enter them in the Canine and Companions Costume Contest – most creative wins! As dogs explore the Diplomat Landing area, guests can get $5 food, drinks and well liquor cocktails.
Event: Día De Los Muertos
Location: Lolo’s Surf Cantina
Date and Time: Nov. 2.
Description: The beachside Mexican restaurant will offer face painting will be from 5 – 10 p.m. and F&B deals:

Date and Time: November 2, Open to Close
Description: Rocco’s Tacos & Tequila Bar invites guests to celebrate Dia de los Muertos with drink specials and face painting. Available all day, Rocco’s will serve its Mexican cuisine, including Rocco’s tacos and other signature menu items. Makeup artists will be onsite transforming guests with custom designed sugar skull creations (based on availability) from 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. The party will continue into the evening with DJs and other “Day of the Dead” surprises.
