Toyota has signed on a sponsor at this year’s Walgreens Gridiron Grill-Off Food, Wine & Music Festival presented by the UHealth Clinic at Walgreens, taking place November 9-11 in South Florida.
On Nov. 10 and Nov. 11, Toyota will team up with the American Cornhole League (ACL) to introduce a variety of games and tournaments taking place throughout the festival weekend at the Toyota Cornhole Stadium & Festival Stage. Event goers will have the opportunity to test their skills against former Miami Dolphiins star (and event founder) John Offerdahl in the Celebrity Cornhole Challenge, participate in the Single Elimination Cornhole Tournament, or sit back and watch as the pros compete in the ACL Pro Celebrity Throwdown.
In addition to displaying several brand-new Toyota vehicles at the main event, Toyota will loan vehicles perfect for tailgating to some of Florida’s most influential personalities in food, fashion and travel so they may arrive at the event in style. Each local celebrity will drive a 2018 Toyota vehicle for a full week, leading up to the festival weekend. Some of these personalities will participate in the Tito’s Tailgate Competition, where one lucky tailgater will win a grand cash prize provided by Tito’s Handmade Vodka.
Walgreens Gridiron Grill-Off Food, Wine & Music Festival pairs celebrity chefs in South Florida with NFL legends to create signature grilled dishes while raising money to positively impact South Florida.
Since 2010, the festival has raised money to support foster care and homeless agencies across South Florida and became a subsidiary of the Offerdahl’s Hand-Off Foundation in 2013. The annual event continues to grow each year – drawing an average of 3,000 attendees.
This year’s ninth annual Gridiron Grill-Off will feature three nights of concerts, a BBQ Pit Masters Competition and unique tailgate experience during the Dolphins versus Packers game on Nov. 11.
The Live Concert Series powered by the Greater Fort Lauderdale CVB’s partnership with AEG Presents will feature performances by Vince Gill, Barenaked Ladies, and Daughtry. Participating restaurants this year include Beach House Pompano, Oceans 234, Naked Taco and Pelican Landing.
“My wife and I felt it was critical to give the local community a hand – and more than just lending them a hand, giving them a hand up,’’ Offerdahl told me. “When deciding how to help, my three favorite things came to mind: football, food and philanthropy. I was able to make these three things come together for a cause eight years ago through the Walgreens Gridiron Grill-Off Food, Wine & Music Festival presented by the UHealth Clinic at Walgreens.
“The event has seen tremendous success over the years, continuing to surpass our expectations. The event is considered the best-value food and wine event in South Florida. Featuring a grilling competition with Miami Dolphin legends and the best South Florida restaurants, it’s no wonder that attendees return year after year. I love the competition aspect of the event. Ranging from the Grand Grill-Off and BBQ Pit Masters competition to cornhole tournaments and a silent auction’.’
