Halloween is a dark night of costumes, but in Mexico the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is a cultural holiday that has been celebrated for thousands of years. It includes colorful festivities, costumes, and parades on Nov. 1 and 2, and it demonstrates a life-affirming joy for loved ones that have departed.
To celebrate Día de los Muertos, Cantina Laredo restaurant in the heart of Gulfstream Park in Hallandale, Fla., will offer a new crafted cocktail served in a Cantarita (clay cup) that guests can keep. Each Cantarita has a spooky augmented reality (AR) image that comes to life when scanned on a mobile phone.
The El Gran Gallo ncludes Espolon Reposado Tequila, Oak-Infused Grand Marnier, Hibiscus Tea Syrup, Fresh Lime & Orange Juices, Aztec Chocolate Bitters and is garnished with a lime wheel. It’s $12 and available through Nov. 4.
