Café Centro, the eclectic Italian restaurant in West Palm Beach’s Northwood Village, on Oct. 23 will host a “World Tour’’ pairing dinner. Executive Chef Jamie Steinbrecher will curate a six-course menu of global plates from California to Italy and places in between.
Cost of the dinner is $99 per person. Here’s a look at the dishes and pairings include:
France: Frisee Salad with boiled egg, beans, potato, olives and champagne vinaigrette
Pairing: Moet & Chandon Imperial Brut, Epernay France
California: Grilled Lobster Taco with avocado, pickled onion, chili and black radish slaw
Pairing: Sonoma-Cutrer Chardonnay, Russian River Ranches 2015
Spain: Deconstructed Paella with shrimp, clams, mussels, octopus, chorizo and saffron rice
Pairing: Marques de la Musa, Garnacha 2015 is the 3rd course wine
Italy (Piedmont, Alba): Braised Rabbit and Polenta with truffle wild mushrooms ragout
Pairing: Orlando Abrigo Barbara d’Alba, Roreto 2013
Argentina (Mendoza): Churrasco with bone marrow potato ‘confit’ and charred scallion chimichurri
Pairing: Terrazas Malbec Reserva, Mendoza 2016
Portugal (Vila Nova de Gaia): Pastel de Nata, puff pastry with porto-egg custard, cinnamon and blackberry compote
Pairing: Taylor Fladgate Ruby Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia
Executive Chef Jamie Steinbrecher’s seasonal menus offer a selection of Italian American favorites including pastas, pizzas, sandwiches, seafood and meats along with an extensive wine list featuring grapes from Italy, California and European regions. The bar area offers creative cocktails, wines by the glass, small plates and features nightly entertainment.
After dinner (and every Tuesday), ladies are invited to enjoy half-priced bottles of wine (under $80) all night long in the lounge.
