After raising more than $85,000 in 2017 directly benefiting Miami-Dade County education, Loews Miami Beach Hotel and NBA Hall of Fame, All Star and Olympic Gold Medalist Ray Allen are once again partnering for the Ray Allen Loews Miami Beach Hotel Celebrity Golf Tournament. The exclusive charity event benefits DonorsChoose.org, an online charity connecting donors to Miami-Dade County classrooms in need, as well as The Foundation for New Education Initiatives, a Miami-Dade County School Board program created to enhance student achievement and community engagement. Allen’s own Ray of Hope Foundation will also receive a portion of the proceeds.

Using funds from the 2017 tournament, Ray of Hope and Loews Miami Beach Hotel will unveil a state-of-the-art computer lab at Miami Beach’s Fienberg-Fisher K-8 Center during an October 19th ribbon cutting.

“We are truly appreciative of Loews Miami Beach Hotel for their tremendous support of the golf tournament which raises funds for Ray of Hope Foundation, DonorsChoose and The Foundation for New Education Initiatives,” said Allen. “The proceeds from the tournament allow us to provide essential technology and tools to students in the Miami-Dade Public Schools; proving the impact we can make by generating awareness for our students, teachers and enrichment programs.”

This year’s celebrity participants include Ray Allen, Alonzo Mourning, Jorge Posada, DJ Irie, Rip Hamilton, Tico Torres, Luis Fonsi, Jason Taylor, Anquan Boldin, and Willis McGahee.

Each foursome will feature a celebrity player, and participants will enjoy giveaways, activations and surprises at each hole. Loews Miami Executive Chef Frederic Delaire will prepare the day’s cuisine, featuring selections from the hotel’s Lure Fishbar. A pop-up of Ray and Shannon Allen’s restaurant, Grown, will offer healthy bites of organic cuisine. A silent auction, raffle and online auction featuring luxe goods and experiences will also take place, with proceeds benefiting the three not-for-profit organizations.

“We’re proud to partner for the third year with Ray Allen for our celebrity golf tournament,” said Alex Tonarelli, Managing Director, Loews Miami Beach Hotel. “With Ray’s support we’ve seen the money raised from this important charity event directly benefit our community via the opening of several computer labs. We look forward to continuing to grow the tournament and provide critical funds for our teachers.”

Since 2011, Loews Miami Beach Hotel’s Celebrity Golf Tournament has raised more than $425,000 in resources for classrooms and students across Miami-Dade.
