South Florida is best known for its Mojitos and Margaritas, but Oct. 1 is World Sake Day.
Here are some of my favorite SoFla restaurants to enjoy the Japanese rice wine.
AZABU Miami Beach
Offering: At this great Japanese eatery, all Soto Sake bottles will be half-priced on Oct. 1, Soto Sake drinks will be $6 for the day, and the Kanpai, a signature cocktail made with sake, chamomile clementine syrup, lemon juice and prosecco will be $9 all day. Azabu’s extensive sake menu is available as well.
Offering: In celebration of World Sake Day, David Grutman’s Komodo will serve complimentary tastings of Soto Sake for guests to pair with the restaurant’s Southeast Asian fare.
Offering: Purchase one bottle of sake at Sushi Garage and get the second at a 20 percent discount in celebration of World Sake Day. Sushi Garage has some innovative takes on traditional Japanese fare to taste along with the sake.
Offering: Stephen Starr’s Makoto has a carefully curated beverage program featuring an extensive list of sake offerings to celebrate World Sake Day. Guests can get a glass, carafe or bottle of any of the restaurant’s world-class sake offerings and munch on favorites such as the Kuro Edamame and Rock Shrimp Tempura.
Monkitail at The Diplomat Beach Resort
Offering: Chef Michael Schulson’s celebrated restaurant features an extensive sake list with a wide variety of favorites such as Honjozo, Junmai and Junmai Ginjo. Each sake pairs delicately with the restaurant’s modern Japanese fare, from the handcrafted sushi offerings to desserts.
