Fairmont Southampton in Bermuda will host the new BERMUDA 3s, a world team par-3 golf championship presented by Goslings. The championship, which will feature pro-am teams from four international regions, will be contested Oct. 21-26.
“We are honored to have been selected as the host resort for this exciting new international golf championship,” said Kiaran MacDonald, Regional Vice President, Caribbean and General Manager of Fairmont Southampton. “Bermuda is one of the world’s great golf destinations with outstanding courses and a rich history with the game. It will be our sincere pleasure to showcase all Bermuda has to offer by welcoming these players.”
The BERMUDA 3s championship is the creation of two golf industry veterans – former PGA of America Chief Executive Joe Steranka and Honda Classic Executive Director Ken Kennerly. It is sponsored by the Bermuda Tourism Authority and Goslings. Teams will come from four regions – Great Britain & Ireland, the U.S., Canada, and continental Europe.
Each four-person team will consist of one PGA Member (designated as the team’s captain) and three amateur players. The competition will take place on Bermuda’s famed Mid Ocean Club, Port Royal Golf Course, and Turtle Hill Golf Club. In addition to the team competition, PGA Members will compete individually for a $100,000 USD purse.
Entry is limited to just 20 teams per region. Cost is $12,500 USD per team. In addition to competitive golf, teams will receive five nights of accommodations, including daily breakfast at Fairmont Southampton, on Bermuda’s spectacular south shore; evening functions, including opening and closing ceremonies and dining.
