Here’s a great way to make the most exciting two minutes in sports into an entire afternoon – if you’re so inclined. On Derby Day, May, 5, MIA Kitchen & Bar in Delray Beach will host “Derby Day in the ‘Burbs.’’
Executive Chef Blake Malatesta, one of South Florida’s top chefs, will be serving up a smorgasbord of munchies, including the “Kentucky Hot Brown,” an open-faced dish of fresh focaccia, bacon, chicken, and smothered with homemade roasted garlic cream sauce.
Guests can toast the Derby winner with lots of bourbon, including the Woodford Reserve Mint Julep and Brown Derby.
The restaurant’s farm-to-table designed happy hour menus will feature items such as juicy meatballs, smoked fish dip, and rustic, signature pies, including like the Standard Issue Pizza layered with crushed roasted tomatoes, 7901 mozzarella, basil, and EVOO.
Guests can watch the event on MIA’s large screen TVs as well as receive complimentary Woodford Reserve swag, a “Best Hat” contest, and a chance to win exciting prizes if they guess the Kentucky Derby winner.
Kentucky Derby hours are 4 p.m. to midnight. Regular dinner menu, happy hour and late night happy hour menus will be available.
