Earth Day is April 22 and Miami area hotels and destinations are celebrating. Here’s a look at some of the festivities.
1 Hotel South Beach, known for creating an ecologically friendly, sustainability focused environment, will host several conservation initiatives. These events and activations are part of 1 Hotel’s recently launched Earth Day Every Day campaign, a year-long initiative that will include activations across all properties (1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge & 1 Hotel Central Park) focused on raising awareness of environmental issues, specifically around saving our shores.

At 10 am on the private beach, guests can join the team as they clean up the beachfront. The group will walk out together from the hotel’s Private Beach. Also, guests can plant seeds from wildflowers to vegetables in mason jars to bring nature home with them.
Guests are invited to attend a breath work session 10 am to build awareness inside and out – led by breath expert Sarah MacMilan. Guests will be encouraged to bring out inner focus that will extend to nature and the universe.
From 11 am to 4 pm., the Earth Day Market (Northeast Terrace) will feature samples and merchandise from vendors including WeSnapBack, Miansai, Conscious Coconut, and more.

During this eco-conscious presentation guests can hold live animals and learn how to decrease single plastic usage, with hopes of decreasing the pollution footprint.
At 4 p.m. there will be a butterfly release on the Northeast Terrace. Guests can take pictures with more than 150 painted lady butterflies.
The event will also be celebrating the launch of Stay Plastic Free, an initiative to eliminate single-use plastics in hotels, spearheaded by Ben Pundole, VP of Brand Experience for EDITION Hotels.
All EDITION Hotels will be 90% single-use plastic free, with an aim of being 100% single-use plastic free by the end of the year. What this means – only paper straws, no plastic to-go containers, no plastic in mini bars, non-plastic coffee lids, and sourcing alternative environmentally-friendly options that utilize organic, plant-based materials.

Guests can take their pick from any of the 14 smoothies on the Wellness Grub menu and receive free in-store wellness shot.
