Hooray for National Margarita Day, Feb. 22

Looking for some places to celebrate National Margarita Day on Feb. 22? Here a couple of my favorite SoFla spots:

Cantina Laredo in The Village at Gulfstream in Hallandale Beach is celebrating with its Perfect Patron ‘Rita! at a special price of $8 from Feb. 22-24. The restaurant has also launched new weekday lunch specials:

MONDAY: Sopa y Jicama-Green Apple Slaw

Chicken tortilla soup with avocado, paired with jicama-green apple slaw, jalapeno-lime vinaigrette

TUESDAY: Ensalada y Taco

Field greens with mango, jicama, strawberries, spicy pepitas, and queso fresco, with choice of Tradicional, Steak, Pollo, Barbocoa or Pescado taco

WEDNESDAY: Hongo y Green Chile Quesadilla

Seared mushrooms, poblano peppers, jack cheese in a crispy quesadilla with lettuce salad with pico de gallo and queso fresco

THURSDAY: Ensalada de Pollo

Grilled chicken breast, crispy iceberg lettuce, grilled corn, black beans and roasted peppers, with cilantro-lime ranch dressing

Meanwhile in West Palm Beach (http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florida/hilton-west-palm-beach-PBIWPHH/index.html) the newly re-designed Galley at Hilton West Palm Beach, is paying homage to tequila’s best friend – the blue agave plant – with Hibiscus Blood Orange Margarita that showcases Sauza Silver tequila, Hum hibiscus liqueur, Solerno blood orange liqueur, simple syrup, and fresh lime juice.

Here’s the recipe:

Hibiscus Blood Orange Margarita

3 raspberries

2 oz. Sauza Silver tequila

¾ oz. Hum hibiscus liqueur

¾ oz. Solerno blood orange liqueur

½ oz. lime juice

¾ oz. simple syrup

Raspberry and orange peel for garnish

Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker filled with ice, including raspberries. Shake vigorously for five seconds. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with fresh raspberry and orange peel.
