Autry adding to Winter menu at Regional Kitchen & Public House in West Palm Beach

The Regional Kitchen & Public House, one of Palm Beach County’s best new restaurants, now is beginning its second year – and second Winter season – under Chef Lindsay Autry. Located at the entrance to the CityPlace shopping and entertainment area in West Palm Beach, The Regional, Autry said, is just now hitting its stride as a “must-dine’’ restaurant in South Florida.

“In this business, you never know, but it’s been a great year,’’ said Autry, a finalist on Bravo TV’s ninth season of “Top Chef.’’

“We started off slow and got dinner down pat and added brunch and lunch. Now we’re (open) seven days a week, all day.’’

Autry’s Pimento Cheese Dip and Fried Chicken Thighs (inspired by her North Carolina roots) have been staples on The Regional’s dinner menu. Her sweet-tea brined chicken breast sandwich makes for a terrific lunch; and the cornmeal flapjacks are an outstanding brunch item.

Autry’s new Winter menu includes a braised short rib, low country seafood boil (with Florida shrimp, Sebastian clams, house sausage and sweet corn) and my favorite, a delicious Duroc Pork Loin Milanese with kale, shaved apple and fennel salad, and Florida honey and cider vinaigrette.

“I’m bringing in some wild salmon because they just started running. I always do an organic salmon when I can’t get wild salmon. And I’m going to feature a lot of local fish,’’ Autry said. “All of the (local) farms are coming back so we’ll have a lot of pumpkins and squash. Florida tomatoes will be back in a couple of weeks.

“I’m really looking forward to all of the produce. That’s my favorite.’’
