Major Lazer, the trio made famous from their fusion of Caribbean beats and American music, has announced Relief is the Mission – a benefit concert for those affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria to take place in Miami on Oct. 16.
Kicking off at 6:00 p.m., the event, staged with the support of Bacardi rum, will take place on the heels of the III Points Music Festival at Mana Wynwood in Miami. Along with Major Lazer, the lineup includes Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, Trinidadian singer Machel Montana, and Puerto Rican-born reggaetón artist Bad Bunny, with special appearances by friends of Major Lazer who have worked with them along their 10-year trajectory.
“Many of the regions affected by these terrible disasters, including Puerto Rico, Florida and the Caribbean are home to our family and company,” said Ned Duggan, vice president of Bacardi rum. “For this reason and because we consider Major Lazer part of our family, we appreciate their efforts to raise awareness and funds for all those affected. We are honored to lend our support.”
With close ties to the Caribbean, Major Lazer is on a mission to give back to those on the islands who have inspired their craft by donating ticket sale profits to organizations that are mobilizing the most amount of aid to Puerto Rico and the Caribbean.
Tickets are available now through Poplife Presents, with prices ranging from a $20 to $100 donation.
