Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach set to open 1947 Catering facility

Okeechobee Steakhouse in West Palm Beach is marking its 70th anniversary with something brand new: a catering facility.

1947 Catering will provide Okeechobee Steakhouse’s famous recipes and dishes, catered up to a 90-mile radius. Catering is nothing new for the restaurant, but having a 7,000 square-foot building dedicated to it certainly gives the restaurant a new dimension. An official grand opening is scheduled for later this summer.

“We have catered for 70 years… and for the past 25 years, I have dreamed of and set a goal to expand our catering and serve our guests more often outside of the steakhouse,” said Ralph Lewis, third generation owner of Okeechobee Steakhouse. “Finally, after three and a half years of permitting, planning and construction, we’re able to provide an unlimited amount of catering experiences.”

1947 Catering will provide all types of custom catering from corporate to social, providing food for up to 10,000 guests. Guests can tour the 1947 Catering dry-aging meat rooms and handpick their own cuts of beef to be butchered. Other offerings include the chance to select items such as a Southern-Style Oyster Roast and Florida Shrimp Boils.

“Entertaining has always been a passion of mine, and now, being able to pair that passion with the timeless service and exceptional food that the Okeechobee Steakhouse is known for, will be a recipe for success for our guests,” said Laura Lewis, co-owner of the Okeechobee Steakhouse.
