The highly-anticipated “Baywatch,’’ movie, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, hit theaters on May 25. Prime filming for the movie was on some Palm Beach County’s more popular beaches. Several scenes also were shot at the Boca Raton Resort & Club and South County Inlet Park.
So with all that mind – along with the beginning of summer – here are a few of my favorite Palm Beach County beaches:
South County Inlet Park – Boca Raton
Seen in Baywatch’s opening scene, South County Inlet Park features an array of aquatic life and underwater rock formations, which make it a great spot for snorkeling. The beach also has a small and intimate feel, allowing guests to fish from the shoreline or the jetty.
A nice wide beach makes this a great place to walk, particularly after an evening of music at Boston’s in the Beach, across the street.
Lake Worth Pier – Lake Worth
Stand atop the Atlantic Ocean on one of the best in The Palm Beaches to watch the sunrise. If you are an early riser, grab breakfast at Benny’s on the Beach.
Carlin Park – Jupiter
On the north end of Palm Beach County, Carlin Park is a beachfront park with volleyball, tennis, softball and even bocce ball. Don’t miss lunch at Duke’s Lazy Loggerhead Café,
Palm Beach Municipal Beach
Summer is prime time to get to this beach – across from posh Worth Ave. – as the snowbirds have vacated for the season. You can find some summer menus at the island’s restaurants and for a special treat, visit the historic Breakers Palm Beach resort for a drink at the great Seafood Bar.
This beach is known for warm seabreezes and family-friendly atmosphere. That blue water you see a few hundred yards from shores is the gulf stream, which makes its closest appearance to land just off Boynton Beach’s sand.
