Davidson Hotels & Resorts has added The Don CeSar, the historic 277-room resort in St. Petersburg Beach, Fla. to its growing portfolio. The fabled “Pink Palace’’ had operated under the Loews Hotels flag. The property is managed under Pivot Hotels & Resorts, Davidson’s lifestyle and luxury division, and owned by Host Hotels & Resorts – the largest lodging real estate investment trust and one of the largest owners of luxury and upper-upscale hotels.
“The Don,’’ which opened in 1928, is one of the Southeast’s more popular resort destinations, situated on the Gulf of Mexico.
Pivot also is managing Beach House Suites by The Don CeSar, a 70-room, all-suite, beachfront hotel on St. Pete Beach.
The Don CeSar recently completed a $10 million upgrade that included a new beachside restaurant and bar on the Gulf. The resort also has two pools, a fitness center, 38,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space and an 11,000-square-foot spa, to go along with a total of seven food and beverage outlets.
